National Centre for Early Music

Venue Overview

The NCEM is based in the medieval, Grade I listed, converted church of St Margaret’s, which stands in the heart of the City of York in an attractive and spacious church garden. Converted in 2000 into a stunning setting for concerts, NCEM is an accessible, flexible and intimate venue specialising in early, world, jazz and folk music, as well as conferences and weddings.

The National Centre for Early Music has resident-parking restrictions with some on-street Pay & Display parking in the evening on Walmgate, and Pay & Display car parks at Rowntree’s Wharf and Shambles approx. 7 mins on foot from venue. Bicycle parking is available on site. Bus stop – 100 yards from venue. Train station – 1.1 miles.
